Back in the Air!

Yesterday, I was back in the air after a break. It felt great. The temperature was much cooler and it was a great day for flying at Murfreesboro Aviation.

Because it had been a few weeks since I had flown, my instructor, Tanner Quigley, spent time going back over the basics as a refresher, then we took to the air. We worked on steep turns, slow flight, power-off stall, point turns, and landings (5 in all).  Because the weather is changing,   we talked about the differences in aircraft performance in warm versus cold weather and the precautions I will need to take depending on weather conditions.

On Tuesday, I will return for ground school and then will be back in the air on December 6. I can’t wait!

  1. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I haven’t taken the written test yet, but hope to do so before I graduate from high school in May. My spring semester school schedule should let me fly at least twice a week.

  2. years ago when I was getting my private I had many weather setbacks and after a while I was running low on cash….starting looking at Ultralights in trade a plane. Then it hit me I was 90% done, I was going to do this even if I had to take out a loan to finish up. that was 1700 hours ago. I’ve owned 5 airplanes and 35 years of awesome flying all over the country and countless hours with some of the greatest people in the world. Don’t let anyone or anything steal your dream!

  3. Keep up the good work! I had a three month lag right in the middle of my private pilot training, due to conflicting work schedules with my instructor and even more so due to maintenance and weather. I progressed quickly from that point forward and had my license 20 log book hours after I resumed the training. If you can go three times per week until you’re ready for your check ride, you be finished soon. Have you taken your written test yet?
