2017 Recipients

Congratulations to all the nominees and finalists of the 2017 FMA Solo Program. We will be listing each finalist as they complete the FMA checklist and we receive confirmation along with their essay, which is due by March 31.  FMA will make the final selection on May 1, 2017.

Each year we receive such outstanding nominations from music directors. This year is no different. However, this year each nominee has been awarded a free one year membership in FMA. As soon as each nominee registers online and completes the FMA checklist, they will receive a welcome package filled with swag from our generous sponsors.

Update 5/1/2017:

Recipients (denoted by red asterisk) will be notified shortly. An acceptance form will be sent to each winner within a week .  Each recipient will have one week to  agree to the conditions of the scholarship.  A separate page will be established for each recipient to document their journey to soloing an aircraft.

This is not the end for those finalists who were not selected. Each of you are deserving. You will hear from us and will receive a package of aviation related products as well as a membership in an elite association of people who share two passions: aviation and music. The FMA network will provide a beneficial means to assist you in achieving your goals if you desire to participate. We look forward to each of you becoming an ambassador for FMA.

  1. Very late to the party here, but congratulations to everyone involved in this program! Looking forward to seeing how everyone grows and prospers through your involvement in music and aviation!

  2. I’m so proud of my FMA Solo student William Knauth! He arrived for his scheduled lesson on Monday and immediately informed me he was grounding himself due to illness. William had just viewed my I’M SAFE webinar (linked from http://avsport.org/webinars) and made exactly the right decision. So, we did 3 hours of ground instruction – and William will fly tomorrow if he’s feeling up to it. But it is entirely his decision.

  3. Congrats to the FMA Solo Winners and the nominees! Here’s to great success in the plane and on the stage!

  4. I am honored to have been selected as a winner of the FMA Solo Scholarship. Thank you for creating this opportunity. Congratulations to Aaron, Courtney, and William and all the finalists! It is nice to know that there are so many students like me who are interested in music and flying. Best of luck to all of you!

  5. A huge thank you for all the people in the FMA and those involved in making the FMA and the solo scholarship possible! What an honor! I look forward to the near future!!!

  9. Another great group of finalist. The FMA board has their hands full deciding on only four winners. We must continue to raise awareness and funds so that more can be selected in the future. I am looking forward to announcing the winners on May 1.
